Hey guys, I'm currently building (still buying!) my first watercooling setup, and have already made a complete noob mistake... Got an EK-Supremacy EVO and I took it apart to change the jet, and now cannot remember which way round the copper base goes. HELP!

Guess I may as well get the other noob questions out of the way while I'm here: Would a 360 X-Flow rad and a 120 normal be OK for a 6700K and 980ti on standard clocks? Looks like the best setup for routing the pipes in the case. And with an EK-D5 Vario X-RES 140 driving the loop, any tips on a good starting point re pump speeds? Cheers all :)

Hey,

I have that block so will try and help. Took me a sec to understand what you mean - do you mean the rib directions relative to that spray plate? If so, their perpendicular: http://imgur.com/I2krNDp

I'm not an expert on x-flow rads tbh but a quick googling and they apparently don't make that much difference. Still I'd go u-flow if you can for that piece of mind, and try to route the pipes with elbows. Are you running on one loop? I prefer dual loops, but with that rad config, I'd do a single loop.

I also have a D5 pump (not that res mind) and made a big effort to get a PWM version thinking I'd vary the speed. Waste of time, run it on a fan header at full speed and very the rad fan speeds. What will happen is the fan speeds and the pump speeds will constantly fight each other if they are both allowed to vary

Hope that's helped!

That's awesome cheers hadri, the instructions helpfully state "Beware of copper base orientation" but less helpfully they don't actually tell you what orientation it should be in!

Yes was planning a single loop, the case isn't the roomiest ever so was thinking a thin 360 X-flow in the top, then the fat 120 in the front. Would have ideally put a bigger rad in the front as well but that would involve losing HDD space, which I'd prefer not to do.

That's some cracking advice on the pump, had never really thought about it like that before but makes perfect sense now you mention it, and guessing it also comes with the added bonus of quieter fans :)

No problem mate, took a lot of pain to build mine and I learned a lot the hard way! Any other questions, feel free to ask!
