complete noob at this, cant O/C my computer

Hi

Ive been on loads of sites and been given loads of advice on how to over clock my computer but so far any attempt to over clock the cpu in the bios wont let it post so has any one any ideas that might help, I did have a Palit HD4870 1gb sonic dual edition gfx card in but I had the ATIkmdag display error and black squars flickering across the screen so its been RMA'd.Hoping they find something wrong with it

well tried 20MHz over std with ram set at lowest 533Mhz wouldnt post, tried 40Mhz over std volts wouldnt post, tried a little volts not much put it upto 1.35v still nothing, ram voltage set at 2.2v/ 4.5.4.15, cpu/pcie set to asyn as per mobo manual, pcie set at 100Mhz , mobo supports untied O/Cing. north bridge set at 1.25v. I just get a message that it tried to boot several times and its gone into default settings mode and to press f2 to enter bios and check settings.

i couldnt even overclock my E6600 to 2.8ghz on a ASROCK motherboard. had to go.

try running your RAM to as close to 800mhz as possible have had issue in the past with E6XXX CPU where they didnt like slow clocked RAM (no idea why!?)

Ensure you are running you RAM at the correct voltage, given you are running 4 sticks you may need to increase your NorthBridge Voltage by .1v / .2v (no idea what this is called on a ASRock board)

Give your VTT (might be called FSB Termination Voltage) a bump up by .1v / .2v

If you can lock your PCI-E Frequency to 101

leave voltages/pci speeds and all that on auto, unlink the ram (assuming you can do this) i believe you can as you are running an nvidia chipset, manually set the ram speed and timings. then up the fsb by 50mhz. after that does it still not post?
