Complete Noob - Need advice.

This is my first time here so bare with me. Ive NEVER built my own computer and im buying a complete budget motherboard and processor from OC. My old computer which was a weak 1.8ghz had fried somehow and im thinking of replacing it with a real cheap Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3 Intel P43 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard and Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 "LGA775 Core 2" 2.50GHz (800FSB) processor along with Corsair XMS2 DHX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX Dual Channel ram. Like i said, real budget, i am a student afterall. So heres the question, will the old PSU still support the faster processor and will my old fan still be sufficient? The psu is about 350W i think and on the fan it has an AMD sticker. One more thing, will i be able to use the version of windows i have on my old hardrive or do i need to buy a new version?

Unless you have the disk a new version of windows will be needed (the license is tied to the mobo in Vista but XP can be transfered I believe). Just use the free Windows 7 RC (you can download it off the web). It's free til next year.

What make is the PSU? I't may last short term, but I'd definately look to swap it ASAP (especially if it's what fried the processor

)

EDIT: How about a cheap AMD rig?

Thats perfect, thanks, i think i will get a new psu then. the old psu im not sure but it says "Casebuy - ATX switching power supply" sounds cheap! haha
