Hi and Good Evening All
As the title suggests while i am an avid PC gamer im completely new to the process of building gaming systems and in the past have either bought store built systems or used older rigs bought off my uncle who is a enthusiast.
As the new games such as BF3 etc are coming out i was tempted to get another pre built rig to keep up with friends etc but after talking with said uncle, being told to read magazines such as Custom PC and visit forums such this ive been inspired to build my own system which should also allow me to get more bang for my buck but also be able to make it much more individual (more lights than blackpool
.)
Which brings me to my current situation. As some very belated xmas gifts i had a rather nice box arrive from OCuk with the following in
PSU: OCZ Z- series 850W
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
SSD: OCZ agility 3 60GB
Optical drive: 2x Samsung bluray drives
Roccat Iksu Keyboard and Kone+ mouse
Copy of Windows 7
Which brings me to where i should go to next. As i said im a complete novice while i have a rough idea of what i want i have no real clue if anything or everything will work together. I was hoping if i made a list of my proposed rig then maybe a few more people in the know could steer me in the right path or point out some stupid mistakes.
Mobo System:
I was looking at the OC pre overclocked bundles as a pre- clocked system would be easier for me as i would not know where to start. my two choices were
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-063-OE
or
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-073-OE&groupid=43&catid=2053&subcat=2064
at time of ordering id like to upgrade to 8 GB or even 16GB depending on cost.
GFX system:
ive been looking at the various GFX threads on the forum and while i understand the crossfire amd cards certainly look like great choices my previous experience with amd/Ati cards has not been great and id prefer to stick with Nvidia.
My biggest choice is whether to spend £500 on a card such as the Asus Matrix 580 or the MSI lightening extreme
or should i look to get a pair of cheaper GTX 580's (gainwood "good" for eg) and Run them together.
Case:
Im completly confused by cases to be fair, size shape etc for my system. I do have access to a Akasa Eclipse 62 but i fancy a newer case such as the white cosair 600Tm but will that be to small and run to hot. Other choices include the new CM trooper or the Raven-01 (leading at the mo)
finally have i missed anything something obvious. I will choose a new 27" monitor closer to the system being build depending on what deals are on at the time.
Cheers for any opinions on these choices or whether there is better out there.
Ian
