Hello Everyone,

I've had a long old look through the forum looking at the different builds people have came up with and have been quite impressed, the last time I built a computer was when I was at Uni (10 odd years ago)...

I'm after some advice and need everything included in the price (including monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers).

My budget is between 2-3k, I'll stretch to 3k if it's a beast! I mostly play games like WH2 Total War at the moment.

Mostly I'll be using it for "work" (mostly gaming....), 2 monitors would be nice! 3 too much unless you can convince me....

Thanks in advance!

My current laptop (2yr old) still gets me by, but wondering if it was worth switching back to a desktop and splashing the cash!

Would recommend waiting for the Ryzen 4000 series if possible, I think they're going to be beasts. Also AIBs having been clearing out stock in preparation for the new RTX 3000 series GPus, and AMDs big Navi is due to be released at roughly the same time. You'd be able to get a more powerful PC for the same money or buy existing parts cheaper when the new stuff comes out.

Release time they are expecting September/October , but with covid can imagine this being pushed back?
Im pretty sure i read that they were due to be released in May at a conference but instead they have pushed it back to September October. Im waiting until then also for a new build

Here you go:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,235.35 (includes shipping: £33.54)

You need to add a Sabrent Rocket M.2 drive from elsewhere (around £100). And you will need to purchase a VESA monitor arm to mount the monitors one above the other. You will game on the Acer and run any tools (streaming etc) on the Iiyama. You could add a Dell Ultravision type monitor in portrait mode at the side.

If you can wait until June then you will be able to fit a B550 motherboard which will give you PCI Express v4 but it's not really necessary and you should see significant price drops in AMD CPUs thanks to intel's new 10 series CPUs being competitively priced.

What types of games you play?
That WH2 Total War isn't big on sound aspect, but fps games etc benefit from sound for immersion.
So for those (unless you can afford proper surround sound set) good headphones and sound card for binaural sound simulation could be good option:
About £100 gets some very good for gaming headphones and sound cards are also cheap compared to graphics card.
(Creative's B-stock prices very good for quite high end models)

Miserable 3 year warranty PSU in luxury priced PC while also spending luxury into fans?

Silverstone are a reputable brand.
Or more properly with shiny brand image.
Good brand would give at least basic level 5 year warranty at £80 price.
Also their 80+ Titanium PSUs are basically only made to reach that efficiency for advertising, while rest of the performance is standard or even mediocre in some areas..
