Hi, all you OCUKers!

I've basically been having terrible difficulties in making my mind up on a nice little spec' that would get me through my troubles as a student and whatever else I get up to on my PC.

List of things I do:
- Internet/Messaging + Multi-tasking
- Light/Non-intensive gaming
- Image,Video editing/A bit of 3D design
- Audio editing/recording (Songs and the like)
- General documenty stuff

So my first impressions on my needs were:

- At least a mid end dual core? (Not too sure if I should go quad)
- At least 2GB of RAM
- At least 250GB of HDD space
- 3850Pro/9600GT perhaps?
- Around a 20" screen (Doesn't need to be bank breakingly brilliant)
- Onboard audio, or a Sound Blaster Audigy if it makes that much of a difference (Not a great priority)
- A motherboard with reasonable features (I like the look of Gigabyte's efficient boards, they look like they have nice features e.g. Back I/O)
- A simple, basic, reliable, good looking case
- One of the most efficient PSUs out there

What do you all think? I need opinions on this, so if you think I'm going off on the wrong foot, then do tell me, I'd gladly take any suggestions, I don't want to spend too much, really. I also want to keep in mind power consumption. Would something from AMD do or what?
Also, how good do OCUK's PC Builder services look to you all?

Thanks for readin' ;)

This might suit your needs, I've tried to go for a mix of value and outright power. If you have a bit more cash then an upgrade to the monitor might be in order.

... I think that spec might just be right for me, thank you very much Semi-pro.

I'm sure that may mean that the PC Builder isn't worth it, am I right? Any other suggestions too?

You mean the OcUK built to order? Depends on your ability/confidence to be able to buy all the bits and hook them together making everything run right.

A pre-built system has been built and tested by professionals and works right out of the box.

Having said that, there is a large satisfaction factor from doing it yourself :D

I'm sure I'll get a lot of satisfaction. :)

Another question to anyone out there :

What Mouse and Keyboard would you recommend for general use?
Just need reliable, long lasting and decent-performing peripherals here.

Thank again.

I use the Logitech wireless mouse and kb and have had no problems with them for 3 years, just need to shake the food crumbs out of the keyboard once in a while :)

Oh, thats cool, are there any wireless keyboards out there that can recharge? And I mean ones that don't cost a great deal, then again I can live with wires. I know there are some wireless rechargable mice.

Edit: Thanks for all the quick replies everyone, its appreciated! =D
