Hi guys, apologies for this thread but basically have been out of the pc gaming scene a few years and have recently got back into it only for my old pc to give up on me. i52500k and a 560ti were the core components, i usually game at 1080p and have picked up one of gibbos special sapphire vega 56s and a 480gb SSD which was on offer so looking to build a computer around this.

Im Totally confused by the Ryzen CPUs, however they seem to hold up against intel so im perfectly happy with AMD or Intel.

Can sort windows out, have a psu so need RAM, CPU, MB and a case unless its worth re using my Corsair 650d? Have a Dell 24Inch monitor Which will hold up for now.

Budget of tops around £700.

Cheers lads.

You can get really good value with 1st gen Ryzen cpu's at the minute.

Board not as good as the Asus above, but a big saving (Over £100) for what is still an 8 core cpu. Some of the cheaper option boards are unfortunately out of stock (MSI Tomahawk/ Gaming Pro Carbon or Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro/Elite etc) or you could knock a bit more off.

Cheers lads for the replies! So many options!is there much Difference between the 1700 and 2700x?

2700x can hold faster 1/2 core boost and in most cases manual all cover overclock .

handy for those that dont want to overclock and let it do its own thing :)

will need to get a good cooler though if going down this route

Alternative cooler. The H7 above is good but the bracket is out of stock so you would have to wait or get one from Cryorig/AMD etc.

It is a bit taller at 159mm so obviously your case would need to be able to take that size cooler.

small one if needs be

pushing budget to max and intel. moving from 4 cores to 8 ... would give higher FPS then amd specially at 1080p but would need a good 144hz screen though to use those frame rates
