i had a trial for some software i was using, its now ended after 3 days, so i uninstalled and reinstalled but thats not enough as something is left on the pc.

How do i go about compltely removing it from my pc?

I think its really bad that programs leave stuff still on your pc even though its been uninstalled.

You need to remove any remaining registry entries.

If you know what you are doing, this can be done manually using regedit.

If you are not confident doing this then you will need to use registry cleaning software such as Regcleaner or Reg Supreme. These will also do the job quicker.

Be advised - these programs are not completely foolproof, back up your registry before you start.

Using such means to extend trial periods is not recommended - it is at best unethical and if you have to do it every 3 days will become a complete PITA!

thanks for the reply.

I have regcleaner just enver used it as didn't completely know what it was for. Will have a try now.

I probably will end up buying the softawre anyways as its only £13 for 6 months and it makes me that in half hours work, but its just i'd like to know in future anyways how to do this and now is perfect oportunity

thanks again

Glad to have been of help.

I would just like to reiterate my warning.

Cleaning your regisrty has significant potential benefits in terms of your system performance as a bloated regisrty full of stuff that is no longer needed has an adverse effect. The downside of this is that it is easy to inadvertenty remove something vital.

It is essential that you make a backup before you start as this at least can give you a chance of getting things back to how they were if it all goes horribly pear shaped.

To be fair it's only a registry entry or two and it's the only way the trial system can work; without it a lot of people wouldn't bother buying whatever the software is and just reinstall (if it was that easy).

If your feeling daring try opening up your registry and navigate to the following. I'm not going to suggest you delete anything, but I can advise this is where 3rd party software is generally added.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
Look down the list for the application in question.

Also worth checking
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software

I did the registry method for years until I came across a piece of software called YOUR UNINSTALLER 2006 - excellent.
I've tested it over and over to see if it leaves anything but it always does the job.
