Hi, I'm a bit of a computer noob, however I'm looking into purchasing a PC and have seen one with the following Spec for sale:

CPU - i7 920
Motherboard - ASUS P6X58D-E
Memory -6Gb Corsair XMS3
Graphics Card - Zotac GTX275 card
Hard Drive - 500GB F3 storage
Power Supply - Corsair AX850
Case - Corsair Obsidian 800D
CPU cooling Corsair H50
OS - Windows 7 professional 64bit
Lamptron touch screen fan controller
Monitor - 24in Acer LED V243HLbmd

I've priced this up on google but have no idea on age of components and so on so can't account for depreciation. I would be gratefull if someone could give me an estimated value on the above.

Finally when it comes to buying second hand PC's is there a fast way of doing a component and overall PC helth check?
Thanks

Unfortunately price checks are not allowed outside the member market. So no one can give you a price without breaking forum rules.

What I can say is if they are new parts, a Sandybridge based PC will be faster for the same or less money.

Can you build a PC yourself?

Thanks for fast reply, I didn't realise that the above was against forum rules so sorry. As for building a new PC, I have never done it before but from reading the guides on this forum and other I am certain that I would be able to do it. The only thing that I am cautious and unsure about is choosing the correct components and metching them up correctly, as I have read that mismatched components will result in a failed bid.

On ocuk, what % of the total cost do they charge for system builds, compared to buying all the components together and doing it myself.

Well any specs suggested by people here will be thoroughly gone over to check for compatibility etc.

Not sure, you will have to ask them in the customer services section, but they doa wide range of pre-built PC's also:)

at a guess around 20% over the price of the components on their own, maybe a little more on the configure your own PC and the £5k+ PCs
