Hey i currently use my PS3 via a component cable but was wondering if it was worth buying a HDMI cable, is there a big difference?
 
yes do it now. major difference. you should be able to find some comparison pics online.

remember VGA to DVI way more impressive than that was.
 
dunno about that I just used HDMI for convenience sake.

Some will say there is a difference but I suppose it depends on your make and size of your TV.

Cant upscale DVDs or games (i think) via component and BD only play at SD res, so yes it is worth it if you dont just use it for games.
 
You can't upscale DVDs, BDs are limited to 1080i (I think) and games have no issue with the component cable. HDMI fixes all these.
