Component > RGB = Downscaling?

I need a solution that allows me to:

Take the 1080i output from a video camera (component) and send it to -
a) 1080i compatible projector (component)
b) RGB DVD-Recorder (Panasonic DMREZ-25) - monitored by 15" TFT

So, I need a splitter and a convertor? I have found a Component>RGB for £89 and a component buffer producing two outputs from one Component input for £49. Enough?

Next question, how will the 1080i signal look on the DVD recorder? Is it down to the recorder to downscale it or will it 'reject' the signal?

The dvd recorder will not accept a 1080i signal. S-video would be more practical.

Suppose while we're recording we just have to use the projector with RGB/S-Video instead.
