Just started a regimen of upgrading my PC. Originally started off with a Medion store-bought PC, then just cannibalised parts while upgrading.

Current Specs:

- Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit)
- Western Digital 230gig HDD (From Medion PC)
- ASUS P5B motherboard
- Intel Petium 4 Prescott core (From Medion PC)
- XFX nVidia 8600GTS 256Mb (I know the memory lets me down a bit... might consider upgrading at some point or other.)
- LG DVD and DVD-RW drives (From Medion PC)
- 4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 RAM (4x 1GB sticks - Vista and the BIOS only seem to pick up 3GB, and uses only 3GB though CPU-Z says theres 4GB, could anyone help me with this?)
- Antec P180 case (Looks friggin' sexy, and not garish at all, which is my cup of tea. Does the job of cooling phenomenally too)
- Some random Atrix 720W PSU (Yes I know, it's somewhat a cheapo, but times were desperate, gonna be getting a new one as soon as.)
- A Medion 15" monitor that I got with the Medion PC.

Anyway, the parts I am thinking of getting, are as follows:

- Intel Q6600 processor, heard talk of some new Penryn stuff, should I hold out, or does Penryn apply for Duos only? Not too clued up on CPU's
- Antec TruePower Quattro 850W PSU
- A new monitor, preferably 19"; could anyone recommend a good one? Heard theres some really good Samsungs and LGs?

Some points:

- Will the Antec PSU be sufficient for my setup, and would there be any other PSU that you would recommend?

If there are any points you want to raise, feel free :)

the power supply will be more than adequate for you plus
it's modular which is the way to go.

do you have a decent hsf?

Erm... HSF? Heat sink fan? Doesn't the Q6600 come with one? Or is that considered to be quite a bad fan?

it would be fine but if you want to oc it wouldn't really be up to the job.
and you only get one with a retail version.

Scythe Ninja Infinity Noctua, Tuniq Tower
any of these would serve you very well.
