My brother bought some "compound 6G" by some company sounding like "feracla" or something, and is ranting and raving about it, and basically want to know if its a polish or what and how good it is?

Any help appreciated :)
 
I thought G3 was used by body shops? If it is rough then its a cutting compound. Polishes are much finner.
 
He has an aging e39 5 series, which has never been taken care of properly.

Was just wondering if Farecla is good or not, would G3 be called a polish or still a cutting compound?

Makesure he is awfully careful with it, got some G3 with a touch-up kit and it doesnt take a lot before you realise you have gone too far.
 
G6 is quite coarse - followed by G3 then G10. I don't know why they don't go in any sort of numerical order.

For the best results with G3/6, mix it with water and smear it over the panel - then machine polish. If you don't use any water it can be a bit aggressive for some paint finishes.

Don't be so heavy handed! You shouldn't really be burning through with G3 if you use it properly - unless you are pretty ham fisted on panel edges.
 
So in coarseness G6>G3>G10 or G10>G3>G6

I just don't want him to burn through his clear coat as he isn't the most sensible person, and it doesn't help that he is attempting to achieve this with what looks like a borrowed angle grinder (10,000rpm?) and a pad instead of a PC
 
Reading this thread makes me understand why some people need to spend 200 quid to polish their car. How club fisted do you need to be to damage paintwork with G3? :eek:
 
G3 rocks, i inherited a Primera GT from my old man, car was white and 4 years old, it had never ever been washed and was now a grey colour, i used G3 by hand to bring it back, my god that was a painfull 2 days :o car did look :cool: tho

Get yourself a rotary!

I used to run an R-reg LDV pilot with massive white (grubby grey/brown) panels, never washed it when i had it, the week a sold it i spent a couple hours with the rotary and a bottle of g3 and the thing shone like a mirror. Sold it for more than i bought it for (always a good thing!) and i see it going around town and it still shines.

And i didn't spend 200 quid to do it either ;)
