I received my z390 Maximus Formula and have begun unboxing and taking photos for a potential build log.

However the box it came in was not sealed nor was there an antistatic bag present. I googled this and it seems to be the norm so I continued with my photos.

When i got to the actual board i noticed that there were a few fingerprint marks and dust. There is also dust and bubbles under the clear protective plastic on the motherboard rgb shields.

Not a problem, i can clean the board of fingerprints. I assumed the socket was checked for bent pins before shipping hence the handling marks.

Then i opened the socket to check the pins myself and noticed a small white fibre stuck in between them. All of the pins are fine but this fibre or hair or whatever it is is stuck in there and wont move if i tilt the board. I'm not going in there with tweezers and i really, really want to keep the board. Can i use compressed air on the socket?

If not i'll just contact customer services and see what they say about it.

I have to say, my Asrock Taichi arrived pristine. This looks like a customer return which i know is impossible given the date. Pretty dissapointing for a £400+ board.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I didn't go with the air in the end because it said on the can that it may damage plastics and I didn't want to take the risk.

If it was me I’d have returned it off the bat given it’s new, sometimes they have a finger print here or there like on the battery but shouldn’t be dust all over it under the seals.
