Hey guys,

i wanna clean the dust and stuff off my pc components, and i've heard that a can of compressed air is good, where can i buy such a thing!?
Overclockers dont sell them i dont think?

Anyone got any other tips for cleaning one out?

Thanks! :)

You can get one for £5 from the bay. But get more at once for better bargain because a can is actually quite small; I used an entire can just to clean up my pc!! It's quite surprising how quickly they run out.

Is it possible to purchase some form of mains powered compressor that would do a similar job?

What should I be looking for? Any specific brands?

I just stick a hoover in my PC when needed! Thats free and does same job - in someways better as mess goes inside hoover instead of blowing else where!

i was told not to use cleaner, due to static :S

i tend to use a combination of cheap kiddy paint brush (the 20p sort you get with kids paints), old tweezers and the compressed air.

I dust the case with the brush, things like heatsinks, fans etc (basically where static isn't a problem), the tweezers for troublesome thick muck (often found deep in old heatsinks that have never been cleaned), and the compressed air to give everything a freshion up.

The can of air i've got here has lasted me years using the method :)

One word of advice though, use the compressed air in the hall/somewhere relatively open (and hold your breath whilst doing it), if you do it in a smallish room you end up with dust everywhere and a foul taste in your mouth.

Well one - you use same de-static on the hoover as yourself - and 2, the nosle dose not touch anything - just above it.

Werewolf - a paintbrush will have tones of static - so even near what you think is "safe" ojects is dangours! A PC Heat sink is perhaps the worst obect to use a brush on as its direct metel to the CPU core - the circurt board is actually covered in a film of plasic!

Brushing outside of case is fine and taking out system fans and brushing them.

Werewolf think you been just lucky ;)

Mind you I dont know anyone these days thats killed a PC with static....
