Compression fittings too tight

Ok guys, I have these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-108-EK&groupid=962&catid=1529&subcat=1778 fittings and this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-048-OE&groupid=962&catid=1530&subcat=1775 tubing.

Without too much force, the tubes will fit over the barb of the fitting, and the nut/cap bit that screws on slides smoothly over the tubing as well. However, i'm finding it almost impossible to screw them down over the tube, and they will not screw in all the way as a result.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips for easier installation? And if not, will the fittings still be ok if not completely screwed together?

Cheers

Are you able to post a pic showing how far you've got the nut on?

They don't need to be screwed all the way down, just to the point they bite into the tube.

i definitely can't pull it out :)

One more thing, i've somehow lost the nut to one fitting, and would rather not buy a new one. I'm thinking i could use it for the pump intake (which is literally millimetres below the res outlet) and then secure it with a cable tie. Would this be sufficient?

i use bigger versions of those on the relevant tube and they don't do all the way up but are tight as anything.

I've actually done up some koolance compressions all the way (was easy to keep turning so i figured why not). Well, that was a bad idea. Can't undo them now, can't get leverage. Had to cut the tubing ust before the compression and bin them.

Identical to how mine are, same fittings - different hose. I just left it how it was, and hoped for the best lol. Seems to be fine, reading this post makes me happier now though =)

I did the same with my koolance quick disconnects, they were easy to tighten all the way.

^Yeah my QDCs are tightened all the way but there's stuff to grip to get the compression off again. The actual koolance compressions have nothing :/. I might try a couple of spanners but that'd ruin the finish.

Ah I know what you mean now.

bit of a stupid design, it's probably meant to look better.
