Finished wire modding my antec 900 today. Been running fine and even cooler for most of the day. Then about an hour ago whilst it was idle there was a small cracking noise and I could smell smoke. Turned it off and unconnected it all. Then put everything back in place and tried turning it on but no power.

Is this the PSU having died or something less obvious??

test the psu by connecting a fan to it and connecting the green wire on the 24 pin connector to a black one on the same connector, if it doesnt turn on ,you should assume at least the psu is dead, if not you problems way elsewhere

Sorry for being useless but how exactly do you go about doing that if they are on the same connector?

Actually also just because I think it is kapput I don't know what warrenty I have on the PSU. I bought it from OcUK in March in a PC. Do OCZ have 12 month warrenties, and would reporting it broken involve going through OCZ as it is after 28 days of OcUK support (if it is even covered).

You short the connectors (e.g. run a wire from one to the other). This whilst it is not connected to any of your system components (bar the fan or other low value item that it is easy to see that works) - you are just trying the PSU to see if it kicks into life.

Ok I took the PSU out and wired the green and black connectors. Had a molex device in. Nada. I followed the OCZ jump start guide which is the same as said above and nothing.

Now i bought it from OcUK in march, I think from what I have read that OCZ have a minimum of 3 year warrenties. Should I contact OCZ for an RMA?

Contacted OcUK, they're going to RMA just the PSU, so good news. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated
