Erm, at a computer.
My computer has been randomly shutting itself down over the last few weeks. Generally it has been when i am playing a game or converting a video file.

However the last time it shut itself down i tried starting up again, the computer boots up but no display on the monitor. Just a blinking power button.

I have reset the bios using the jumper and taken out my sound card and Freeview card and still no joy.

Any ideas how i can sort this out?

Could be the gfx card in there thats gone if you have a spare try putting that in there.I have a similar problem with one of my machines tryed other gfx cards but dead no beeps just power up and fans turn and lights come on and nothing.
So in your case try gfx or then mobo, psu not pushing out enough juice.Im buying a new system using this as an excuse lol

Sounds like its overheating. next time it goes off, turn him back on, go to the BIOS and check the temps.

I remeber a few years ago my fujitsu pc randomly hut down in games and it turned out to be the paste on the cooler/cpu needed renuing. As for signal to monitor could be a few things.

Thanks for the replys.

I think the mobo is good as the green power LED is on. I have 4 2gig memory sticks, took them out and i tried just the one, still the same.

It definately seems the computer is powering up and booting as it should, just nothing on the monitor.

Never had any grief with the GFX card (8800 GTX) and have never overclocked it.

Ok if the pc is powering up do you get any beeps like the ingle beep as normal. My mobo powers the lights fans but no beep or signal to monitor.

Turns out it was the monitor!

Was a samsung monitor that iv had about 18 months, i thought they had a reputation as being extremely rock solid. The randon crashes completely through me as i thought a component was dodgy. My windows install is messy so im gonna do a re-format and see if that sorts out the crashes.

Thanks for the help.
