If i want to offer the above services in my local area.

What exactly do i need to do to do this?

Been told i need to register self-employed

Also that i need public liability insurance etc...

How do i go about getting the ball rolling on this?

Also, what prices do you think people would be prepared to pay for -

A computer (hard not to generalize this) People are prepared to pay that purple shirt wearing place so anything cheaper than that with good after support and warranty?

Repair of the operating system?

Simple network installation?

Demonstration/lessons of how to use Windows/Word/Email?

Thanks guys,

Andy

I suggest you speak to The Princes Trust and Business Link about help in starting a small busines. If you are planning to work in people homes with electronic equipment, some form of personal liability insurance is probably a good thing. As for registering as self employed, you won't be able to claim JSA but because of your living arangements you probably don't anyway, you will however need to submit tax returns for your turn over and register for VAT after a certain amount of turn over a year.

The market of PC repairs has been up then down and now I suspect its on the rise a little and you might just be able to make a living in the area although it is still highly contested business.

Be prepared to com up against problems you can solve and make double sure you never lose anyones data and best of luck to you.

Thanks matey, i can always rely on you for some information :D

It's just, as of late i've had a fair few people come to me with problems etc... and i've been paid fairly well ex - £25 for fitting a graphics card and installing drivers (30 minutes work)

Can i not test the waters or anything before i jump straight in and sign off of JSA etc...?

Thanks,

Andy

If you are working under 16 hours a week it shouldn't have any impact on your claim. You will need to declare it to the Job Centre and they will probably average it out as your income will fluctuate from week to week.

The whole self employed thing is much more complicated so my suggestion would be to call the benefits helpline on 0800 882200 and ask them hypothetically how it would all work.

Im thinking about doing the same, I have built 4 computers for faimly's, I saved them over £300 compared to a high street built PC. I have a good place to strike up a deal with a parts supplier and i think once word gets around somebody wants a cheap faimly PC I could make a living, its worth a try, I need to get out of this dead end job working with retards.

Actually yes i have so get off of your high horse.

They know exactly how much i made (a whole £25 this week)

They even said i could keep all £25 of it.

Nice of them :)

LoL :D

Get off your high horse

I was pointing out that you have to declare any earnings
not trying to have a pop

Edit: Do you ever see anything right the way through?

My studying is going good and i hope to have done my exams by April

Yes, i see a lot of things right the way through.

I did 2 years of college without giving up for one.

IIRC Tesla does something similar so he would be a good person to talk to.
Not exactly the same but I am happy to talk to anyone about starting up.

Don't expect to make loads of money straight away and also be prepared to work to get yourself known.

Msn/email in Profile.

EDIT - Just noticed who the OP was, you havn't mentioned much on MSN recently about it!?!
