Computer constantly crashing in games ?? I Have no idea now why ??

Hey all, Ive just bought a copy of battlefield bad company 2, Ive got the settings on high, and when im runing im getting a pretty nice frame rate of about 40 . . however this only lasts for about 3-5mins (even that if im lucky) and then the whole of my pc just crashes . . . go's to a grey screen where you can see light grey vertical lines ??

This has also been a problem when ive played "time shift" before, Im really not sure what to do now as ive upped to fan speed on my gfx card to nearlly max as i thought it could be overheating and ive also checked cpu temps and theyre fine. .. staying at about 40-50 in game

My specs are as follow

AMD PHENOM II. TRI CORE BLACK EDITION 720 2.80GHZ
ATI RADEON 4850 XFX XXX EDITION (Manufactured Overclocked)
4GB RAM
GIGABYTE MA78OG-UD3H
ADDED CPU FAN
550W PSU

Have you checked GPU temps? If not download GPU Z and on the sensors page there is an option to log to file so you can see what temps it's hitting while you're in game

No I havent managed to see the actual gpu temps in game, ill have a look now but Ive had my gpu fan on the max and it still happens . .. thanks

This is the infamous 'grey screen of death'. You can Google it but there are hundreds of threads. I have it as well as do many others. AMD have emailed me to say that 10.3 drivers will fix this.
