Ok so I have overclocked my gpu and my CPU. And both seem stable during stress testing. However when playing a game such as skyrim or f1 my computer crashed to a blank grey or black screen and the sound is like a deep buzz noise from the speakers. I thought it was just skyrim as I have heavily modded it and it would crash in the same place but if I turned my mods off then the game would get past the part where it would crash. But in f1 I was just racing and then boom it crashes and I can only sort it by holding the power button so it turns off. Neither CPU or gpu are overheating and it only happens in games.

Does the CPU or gpu crash in a specific way so I can tell which one is the culprit?

Thanks

Your mileage may vary but CPU crash for me is normally BSOD or freeze. GPU crash is black screen, stuck audio, total freeze or driver recovery if I'm lucky.

I find gaming will show up an unstable overclock better than stress testing.

I'd test by first removing your GPU overclock and see if the problems gone.
