Well in this forum its " Do not skimp on PSU " attitude... My 8 year old AMD PC runs on Un-named PSU which should`ve died long ago, due to its working hours and being completely filled with dust... My Q6600 worked fine and works fine on some cheap 15 quid 500W PSU... Although some time ago on other PC, my PSU went out with a bang and took out mobo, ram, HDD. If you buy branded PSU chances of that happening are very low.... So its your choice. In your case, since it looks like a quite old computer with RMA probably being out of date, I`d get branded PSU to be on safe side... If you dont care if your computer burns then there is no need for branded psu.

It's because I'm a student and I'd prefer to keep my spending limited. Plus this 450w PSU has lasted me over 2 years now. I don't really care much about branded anyway.

is it still crashing in cod4? you can pick up a decent psu for £50,save a bit at atime,your 450w will last you a bit longer till you have enough £

If you decide not to go branded route, make sure it at least has "80 Plus" if you can.

YES . i learnt the hard way going though 3 cheap one in 12 months when i could have put that money together a buy one of the decent quality ones about

It hasn't crashed on cod4 (yet). And I've tried it out for around half an hour. Yeah I might just wait a few more weeks, until I've saved up enough. I mean the Power Supply has lasted me this long.

Probably it was your gpu overheating due to dust ect,just see how it goes now you've cleaned it out

I'm failing to see this is a power supply issue. I ran my rig on a very cheap 400w PSU for a while without a single problem. I of course upgraded to a Corsair PSU when I could afford to. But my money is on this being a punkbuster problem.
