Hi,

My PC crashes after a few hours of play WarZ. I don't know if it happens on other games as haven't played them as long as warz but usually after 2 hours my PC goes all brown (or some random colour) and later has horizontal slashes and then I force reboot it using the button on my case. I can still talk to my friends while it is a solid colour and as soon as the horizontal lines come on I can't talk anymore (suppose the processes are all closed by then).

I have a R9 280X and a OCZ 500W PSU. Some say it may be the PSU's fault? Do I need a more powerful PSU?

I have quite a few things running off it, a SSD, 3/4HDDs, a corsair k95, i5 4670k, several silent fans (that are not so silent haha)..

Is the problem heat?

I have not OC'd during the BIOS as it is all default (auto) and the problem still persists, but in CPUZ it says my CPU is at 3.8GHZ when I use high perf mode (in power options) could this suggest software overclocking? I have checked AMD Catalyst Control and nothing is OC'd at all.

I think my MSI Intel Extreme Tuning Utility may be OC'ing as it says Turbo Boost. Should I uninstall it?

My CPU temps are at 60c right now (idle) and these look very high! I have a alpenfohn k2 mount doom and I arent even sure the fans are spinning..

I'd recommend you focus on this first. Those temps are way too high on idle, and could be the likely cause of overheating when on load.

You need to make sure that the cooler's fan/s is spinning. Is the Mount Doom fan/s connected to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard?

If it is, and doesn't spin, one thing you can try is to set the starting speed of the fan higher (some fans don't start up except on a minimum voltage). You should be able to do that through the BIOS (preferable).

Your CPU ramping upto 3.8ghz is normal its just turbo kicking in under load, as for the CPU temps at idle make sure the fans are correctly mounted (push/pull) and they are spinning. If that is not the problem I would definitely suggest remounting the cooler.

I believe many would suggest its the PSU because OCZ is not the most reliable.

The Mt Doom is either mounted with about six inches of thermal paste or the fans aren't moving.

60 degrees idle is what I'd expect from passive cooling

Fans ARE moving its just spinning with like 0 newtons of force... It spins then stops and loops. I have it set to 'silent' on the Mobo, should setting it to turbo actually work...

will test

EDIT:

OK now temps are around 35-40c... which is great. could they get even lower? Perhaps want to OC it a tad... any decent guides to ocing for the z87x-ud3h

Temps seem pretty normal to me 30-35, maybe make a post in the OC section or drop 8pack a line.
