Computer crashing

when I watch live streaming videos in a new window! It doens't matter what medium I watch them through. The crash is a really serious type. Sound makes a horrid noise and hangs, mouse won't move and I can't even get the keyboard num lock light to go out when I press numb lock. I am not running any other applications at the time. It may crash 5 mins into watching or sometimes go for an hour. Just got the PC btw.
Specs at 64 bit:
Intel 2.0ghz processor
Geforce 8500GT
480W psu
2 gigs of ram.
XP (32bit)
22" monitor
Runs everything beautiful; games run nice. Just hates me watching BBC news and stuff like that! Driving me nuts. I have to switch off at mains. Control alt delete is useless.

might be related to plugins; flash etc. Its likely you will have quite a lot of plugins installed so you'll probably have to uninstall/re-install each plugin at a time and see if it fixes the problem.
