Hi

I'm after a new desk to replace my current L shape one to firstly save some space, and to provide some cupboard/draw space and to hopefully accommodate my U2410 :D

Something like this: http://www.officesupermarket.co.uk/p/Venture_120_Desk.htm looks perfect but for that price I'd like to go have a look.

Can anyone recommend any desks and/or a decent sized place I can go have a look at desks (and chairs!). I live in The Midlands (Warwickshire).

Thanks

i just bought a top/drawers and 2 legs from ikea. Was exactly what i wanted and cheap enough. The top was about 30 quid and the legs £2 each. The drawer unit cost about £45 i think.

Check Ebay and Gumtree if you don't mind second hand and can pick up. THere are loads of bargains to be had. I picked up numerous bits of furniture, including a PC desk worth over £150 for £30-40.

Custom build from bits out if Ikea almost always give you the best use of space for the money

I tried that when I was there last but found the tops they provide are all too small (see dimensions on the desk I posted in the OP for an estimate on how big I want).

This was a few months ago, so they might have some new products now I suppose.

I'll give the other places a go as well, thanks everyone.

DIY shops usually have a few desks in. In Focus, I managed to find just what I after for much less than everywhere else.

I managed to snag an old Ikea Office desk on ebay for 99p, had to drive a 60 miles round trip to collect but well worth it, 1200 width and fits perfectly

My advice, ebay :)

I was looking at them IKEA tops but for that price and looking at their construction description, I can see them wearing very quickly. Also, someone in the desk gallery thread in case central told me that they don't carry much weight. So not really ideal for me.

I'm currently looking at their black glass desk as it looks good and wont wear. My only concern is that I will be placing a few grands worth of kit on top of it and if the glass breaks I'm screwed. There doesn't appear to be much (if any) support under the glass, should it break.

I might even build my own using some American Walnut. That would probably cost £400-£500 but would last forever.
