Yep - get your i5 760 to 3.2GHz (easy) and it'll run just as good as that i7 at the same settings. 4GHz and it'll run better! Will be no problem with a decent cooler - any ~£35 air cooler or better.

Looks good that. Never seen all that wing/engine mount flex, control surface flutter etc etc before - looks awesome. Is that 'real' or a canned physics effect? And is it standard or part of an addon? Getting me interested now...

As to whether it'll be that smooth...I really don't know. Looking at spec's and directly comparing, it should be. The problem with fsx is that there are thousands of different tweaks and settings and the key is to get a setup that your comfortable with. IMO i5 760@4GHz "should" be as good as that.

Yeah that wing flex is the default PMDG 747-400X model, probably one the best payware aircraft you can buy.

One more thing, I want to hook my PC up to my 22" LCD-do I just connect a VGA cable? Or do I need configure anything?

TV or monitor? VGA will be fine, but you wont find VGA on your new GPU. You'll need a DVI-VGA adaptor if you want to use VGA, or if your monitor supports DVI just get a DVI cable. Or HDMI.

It's an Hanspree 22". It only has a VGA connector. I use an HDMI with my ps3, but I'm not sure whether that motherboard (from the bundle) has an HDMI slot?

It's the GPU that will have the HDMI port - not the mobo, and I'm sure a 470 should have one. But VGA via a DVI-VGA adaptor will be fine. Set res to native res of the monitor.

I forgot to ask btw, will I have to do a clean install of windows for the new mobo? Or will it recognise and load my current windows 7 up?

CPU bottleneck is indeed the main thing with FSX, don't forget that stutters can also come from I/O cues, FSX is heavy on random reads, especially when it comes to complex addons like photo scenery. It is dependent on whether the previous version was OEM or retail. If it is OEM it is tied to the mobo and legally can't use it on a different board. But if it is a retail version then yes it will work but a fresh install is advised.

Press start/computer/systemproperties your product ID at the bottom will tell you.

Swap the gtx50 for a gtx70 and still comes in under £600.

Aslo, I wouldn't bet on putting a GTX 470 in that machine, there is no mention of the make or model of the PSU - and the GTX 470 is a very power hungry card compared to the GTS 450.

Stick with what you had. Never skimp on a PSU! Buy a decent one to begin with.

It's a 600w psu, but either way, I can get a good psu for £60.

No problems, always worth shopping around but just got to be a little wary sometimes. Worth checking out "today only" offers from various sellers too just in case there's something for your build.

Should run fine, esp if cpu is overclocked. Again 5770 should be OK but FSX does tend to prefer NVIDIA cards but the 5*** series somewhat improved over the 4*** series.

I run FSX with an i5 at 4GHz, 4GB RAM and an ATI 5850. Still get some funny microstutters but in general it is running well.

I think an nVidia card could be the cure for my microstutters even though the 5850 is never over 80% load.
