Computer freeze ups while playing games

Hey guys, i'm having a problem with my pc. Everytime when i'm playing games such as ut3, the game freezes for a few seconds and then goes back to normal, i thought it was the game but then had the same problem with a few other games.

I thought it could be my hardrive that may be dying, or it could be that i haven't reformatted my hardrive for 5 months.

So do you think its my hardrive that may be dying, or i need to do a reformat, or could it be something else?

u;re sig says you're overclocking, does it happen if you run at default speeds ?

i don't think it's the overclocking since my rigs been overclocked since i bought the cpu 8 months ago, and the problem occured only about a month ago.

This happened to me when playing UT 2003 with an old GF4 Ti4400, which had been overclocked to much. Droped the clock speeds down a bit and it was fine.

my gfx isn't overclocked, its only my cpu, i just received my e8400 this morning and just popped it in, so gonna check out if i notice any difference.
