Computer Getting Louder

I built a new computer for myself, about 2-3 months ago now. I've had no problems with it at all, and love it entirely. However, when I first built it the box was nearly silent even under really heavy loads, but it seems the longer I have the computer the louder its getting.

I have the stock Q6600 retail fan, and the PSU that came with the case (an Antec case I believe, can't quite remember - I didnt stick the silly sticker on the front). Is it likely these components would just get louder/less efficient as time goes on? Should I replace them? Does anybody have any suggestions of things I could try with, or without, replacing them?

Thanks for any help, its starting to get really annoying

PSUs do become less efficient with time, however in a few months it shouldn't be noticeable. Before doing anything drastic have you tried cleaning the dust out of the system?

No, to be honest I am quite a novice with hardware and am a bit scared to start wiping around it. However, I think I noticed a thread about cleaning cases up on this forum a second ago so I will give that a read.

At a swift glance though, there barely seems to be any dust at all.

Not after 2-3 months - it should be pretty much as new.

I'd maybe consider identifying what's noisy and think about replacing/upgrading it.

What are your full specs and do you know now what the noise is ands where it's coming from? Also, does it only get noisy when it's under heavy usage?

Might seem a bit silly but if it's just the fans working harder, it's probably just because the ambient temperature is increasing, summer is on its way!

Hmm...what are your temps like? My temps according to speedfan are far too high for doing nothing more than viewing a video file on VLC media player. The odd thing is when I first built the system nothing ventured above 50 degrees..it might be time for me to clean the fan filters - perhaps you have the same problem?

^ what i would say, noisier PC can normally mean fans are started to get clogged up with dust, and in doing so are having to spin faster to get the same amount of air in, thus making more noise
