my computer, nothing there, although it is connected because the ipod is charging, normally when you plug your ipod in itunes pops up but nothing apart from that useless wizard.

Yes, don't use a dock. Plug it directly into the computer.

I nearly had a heart attack when i turned mine on a couple of weeks ago. When it arrived, the packaging was all really cold, and there was condensation on the connectors. I thought that couldnt hurt, and nearly died when windows said a device had malfunctioned. Plugged it into the computer's port and it was fine.

There's a bug with Windows that can chomp up Autorun. You want to grab Autofix from Microsoft. It's an Autofix repair wizard. You run it, and log off and on Windows and run it again until it no longer offers you an option to repair. At that point AutoPlay should work.

Assuming of course that was the problem. How do I know? Because I fixed the same problem on one of my PCs today :P
