The other day i was playing a game on my pc and then my three monitors went black and the computer seemed to freeze (impossible to tell as screens went black). i had to manually force shut the computer down. When i turned it back on none of my monitors were receiving any video input.
At first i thought it must be a problem with my video card as i had just installed the latest nvidia 680 drivers about half an hour prior to this problem. So i decided to unplug the nvidia card and connected one of my monitors to my motherboards dvi output, however i still wasn't getting any picture, the same problem (no video input message on monitors). I assumed that i would get some kind of signal using the motherboards output however i have no idea if i ever installed drivers for the motherboards video output or if i even need to have done that to get signal from it ?
I've tried taking the motherboard battery out for a few hours as well as trying to short the CMOS pins but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I've unplugged everything else from the motherboard as well such as hard drive/dvd drive etc
Im not really sure what to do at this stage, the motherboard seems to power up fine, all the phase leds come on, cpu fan and system fans kick in as well as the fan on the GTX680 when its plugged in but there is no beep when turning on the computer which i usually here. i've tried testing ram but it won't start up with either of the two sticks and ive tried every memory slot as well, on top of that i dont hear any beeps when i turn the computer on with no memory in (which i thought is the default response for a motherboard with no ram in ?).
Has anyone got any idea what the problem could be or how i could go about problem solving it ? I don't have any spare parts unfortunately to swap over which is a bit annoying. Im thinking it must be either the motherboard being dead, my cpu or my psu.
Finally i got the motherboard in april 2011 from overclockers, is it likely to still be under warranty ? if so will they send out a replacement or am i screwed ?
