My computer keeps crashing when loading some programs or having too many windows open in Internet Explorer.
This started happening yesterday when my computer crashed while playing BioShock. I am half way through the game and have never had any problems running it before. I run the game on maximum settings in Windows XP SP.
But since the crash my computer now won't run anything that uses a lot of memory. it gives me some memory module errors - out of memory or something.
I have 3Gb of memory.

Does anybody have any ideas why my PC might be crashing? I can no longer play BioShock or any other game or even load PhotoShop, it just restarts.
I assume it has something to do with the memory but I can't figure out what to do.
Please help!

you could try using one stick of memory at a time to rule out faulty Ram, or use memtest to check them.Over things that you could try are :-

make sure you are not infected with a virus/spyware.. try an online virus scanner ether the one on nortons website or trend micros house call.

Could also be your PSU if you can get hold of known good one try that.

make sure you have checked your harddrive for errors as it could be failing..

One last thing is your system overclocked? as this could also be causing it to a) overheat or b) just be unstable

Thanks for your reply. I ran memtest and it detected an error ("copying between 312ae3b and 312acee did not result in accurate copy. Memtest has detected that your computer cannot accurately store data in RAM").

Now I have to find out which memory is the bad one.
