Hey

My computer keeps freezing when I log on

I log on the 5-10 secconds later it just freezes cant move the mouse or anything.

It was doing this before I had to reformat also..

I have managed to to a system restore but I suspect it will happen again

My specs are in sig

Any idea whats causing it?

Any USB items plugged in, my friend used to have the same problem when his mp3 player was plugged in. Just a thought.

i get a lag when i open 2 msn or loads of ie. just took off usb ps2 controller adaptor and seems like it sorted that problem out.

argh.. just running memtest, 30% through so far with 1 error. going to leave it on and see how it is in the morning. can that be a cause of the freezing?
And whats Geils memory warranty like?

im getting quite a lot of errors in my event viewer also could that be it?

And now i cant even run memtest as my pc just crashes

Could this be anything to do with my gcard?

Probably not the graphics card, as this would not effect the correct running of a program, merely the display.

Does sound like bad RAM to me. Try running on just one stick, and then the other, to sus out whether just one of your two modules is faulty.

GeiL offer a lifetime warranty, so you've no worries there.

thanks for that masslac

Well I would.. but if I run either of them by there self the pc just crashes??

But when I run them together it seems to work ok untill i open up memtest/games

I have mailed geil so all I can do is wait I suppose?

And if it is the ram I dont fancy shipping it out all the way to the usa, I do hope they have a uk based warehouse

Sure it's not a heat related issue? When the CPU gets very hot it does freeze windows after logon (voice of experience)

Is it a new PC build?

I don't think its anything to do with heat as my graphics card is running at 45 degrees and my cpu is running at around 35

It's just when I load memtest my pc just freezes and churns to a holt.

I just had to do a format as something naffed up and its only seeming to freeze when i run memtest.

This is sounding to be like faulty ram isnt it -_-

And I've had this PC just over a year.. It was working perfectly untill a few days ago..
