Hey all Wondered if someone could help.

I bought a new computer about 3 months ago and everything has been working sweet. Until a week ago when the computer started freezing but the sound continues. KEyboard becomes un resposive as you cant press caps / num lock to change the light on it.

I leave it over the weekend and it works fine for a few hours then it crashes again and cant even get past loading windows 7. When you start the machine up again.

The psu is making a weird sound like really high pitch not sure if it's related. I've tried a reformat and still not working.

Any ideas?

As far as im aware the fans are spinning normally as in they are spinning. Im using an 902 case with the side open so dont think temps are the problem.

What I cant understand is, if its the psu why does it work and somestimes not?

Could possibly be a 'squealing' capacitor in your power supply? If it is then it's probably an idea to change the power supply... TBH any noise from your power supply isn't too good.

You may also want to check your ram out as I have previously had ram at the wrong settings and this meant I had to change them, meaning that the same problem vanished.

Most likely a squealer. what PSU is it? In fact what spec is the PC?

i7 930
460 GTX
6gb Corsair RAM
ASUS P6X58D-E Motherboard
500GB Seagate HArddrive
550W BeSilent!

Ive sent off for a 650W OcK PSU probably wont get it before for xmas.

Update:

Replaced PSU. Squeeling gone.

Still crashing randomly and now cant get past windows 7 loading screen. Did a system restore worked for a while graphics card crashed but recovered. Crashed again now cant get into windows again.

Please some one help this is driving me insane.

Its not the harddrive just tested my backup one crashed on startup also.

Every time I load a game it crashes 100% psu is also starting to squeak like the other one did.

Probably a graphics issue sigh. Or im hoping cba with buying a new motherboard :S

Another Update!

Sorry about this but Im hoping someone will just tell me whats wrong to put me out my missery ^^

Couldnt boot again. Safe mode and uninstalled nvidia drivers and it worked. Without the drivers is the graphics card is working but is it as it should? or is the removing of them removed a dodgy driver? In other words Hardware or Software? :S

So you booted into Windows in safe mode and uninstalled the Nvidia driver... Now it works without crashing when in Windows in normal mode just without the graphics driver?

If you can boot into Windows on default drivers, have you tried installing the latest Nvidia driver and trying again?

Otherwise it does sound like a dodgy graphics card. Any way you can test it in somebody elses machine? Or test another card in your machine?

I disabled W7 from installing its own drivers - Decided to enable it again restarted after install BAM couldnt boot past Welcome screen.

Trying it without the W7 and putting the new one on.

I dont have any where to test it dont have a spare gcard and my mates dont have 2x6 Pin PSU's.

Got no alternative to return the graphics card hope it fails on there tests and get a replacement. The worst than can happen is that the motherboard is the culprit, I've sent back graphics card and have to pay for the false replacement request. :(:(:(:(:(
