Hi Guys,

For some reason i keep getting lockups mainly when I'm in games, I have run memtest and it's passed 100% with 0 errors the hardware is fairly new, temps are fine cpu isn't overclocked and everything is running stock.

My gut feeling is there's a issue with the motherboard? Anyone know of any P5Q pro related issues? I get it on both XP and Vista and i've recently formatted so unlikely to be a corrupt install

Have you tried stressing your system with prime or something similar? It could be a driver problem, duff nvidia driver perhaps. I am currently running 178.24 and had a 4 week uptime and played games most days, so deffo a stable driver for me anyway.

have you tried a diff gpu in the system?

if that fails, try running machine with 1 stick of ram and ENSURE its in the correct slot..

apologies for the delay guys.
1 thing i've noticed is that it's very irregular when it does lockup, eg last night while I was in a game it did it, i restarted my comp and as soon as I connected to the game it locked again, so I restarted this time It didn't lock for the rest of the night.

I've done some tests
- memtest has run fine (although have tried with 1 stick and still got the lockup)
- ran chkdsk and this was extremely slow in the 5stage took over a hour to do the 5th check, but it completed fine (so no hd faults)
- I have all the latest drivers installed on my pc and it's a recent formatt of windows
- when playing games I only have counterstrike 1.6 and ventrilo open so it's not overloaded.

I suppose it could be a fault gpu although is there a way to test this without trying a different card which may not be that usefull as I can't manually force the computer to lock nor does it do it at a certain point.

all help is greatly appreciated

Tbh it doesnt sound like a problem with the mobo or the RAM, more likely an issue with the GPU or a driver issue. Try running a GPU intensive test to see if it locks, something along the lines of the crysis benchmark or a 3d render after updating to the most recent drivers.

ok guys think I found the cause of the issue.

Played a game of Cs1.6 with coretemp logging

core 0 has a extremely large jump in cpu load
