Hey all

I have a PC with dedi graphics, a USB PCI card and a firewire PCI port.

The firewire pci port doesn't work, I put in a new one, PC wont boot.

Change it back, PC wont boot.

Ensure CMOS is cleared, PC booted once out of 6 times, then when case was being put back on the video just dies.

The power supply is fine, just I get no video or usb ports working therefore I'm thinking motherboard/

One issue I seem to have is that the manual says how the jumper needs to be to clear CMOS but my PC has been set the clear CMOS setting forever, if I change it to keep it will turn on, but you cannot turn off using power button.

Basically the PC boots, with no display or way of knowing if anything is alive apart from fans and dvd drives on.

Motherboard issue maybe?

yeah, sounds like the mobo.

id try updating the BIOS and run window in safe mode just to rule out a software problem. Could you try putting the broken card back in? I had a case where a network adapter had blown and the coomputer wouldn't start without it in. Also check windows HCL (hardware compatability list) to ensure your system is fully compatable with the new hardware.

Take out all cards, and reseat them. Remove power connectors, and then reconnect them. Make sure they clip in properly. Always best to remove them than just pushing them in further.

If you have a case speaker, plug it in, it will give you beep codes so you can fault find!
