I have posted a previous post a few days ago about waking up and finding my PC closed and unable to boot. A bios reset didn't help and after trying to find the cause of the error l could only verify that my PSU kicked the bucket.

I was unable to find a PSU with an 8-pin connection at work and most of my mates are studying in England so getting another PSU to test what is wrong is not a possibility.

I have tried putting my CPU Q6600 on a P31 motherboard at work and while it recognised the CPU at boot and in the bios the PC would shut down after a while. The temp of the CPU in the bios was 100C for some reason.

The good news is that the CPU is not dead but after seeing that 100C temp in the bios l was alarmed. Hope it was due to the P31 mobo not able to read the temps correctly.

Anyway on a more positive note the shop l purchased my new PSU, GPU and cooler made a mistake and sent me 2 Sapphire 4890's for the price of one :D
Some luck after all.

Yeah its probably just the BIOS not fully supporting the CPU as to why you got those temp readings, a BIOS update would allow it to work properly, but as its works computer they might not be too happy to let you do that
