Hello guys.. i apologise if there is already a topic about this but i couldint find it.. i would like your opinion and fews on this particular PC only with the GTs 250 512mb GFX card instead of the one which comes with it.. i play COD4 at a VERY high level and need a computer that garentees peformance and steady 250FPS.. but i do not have a lot of money.. so get back to me quick please lads thnx in advance.

A computer capable of running CoD4 at 250 fps at any resolution will not be cheap.........asuming 250fps is even possible.

lads i currently have a LOW LOWWWWWW spec PC atm.. and i can get near enough constant 250.. its VERY possible.. in my PC atm i have an 8600 GT with 240 watt supply.. it al ldepends what cfg u use.. i would use 1280x1024 if i bought the computer

Are you sure you get near 250? What settings do you run at? Id think you would need to run at like 800x600 with everything on low.

It's all irrelevant though, you don't need 250fps.

I know COD4 is built on the doom or quake engine (cant remember which), but a higher fps means you can jump higher, throw grenades further etc. Think these changes happen at 125, 250 and 333fps but dont quote me on that! Most games will kick you though if your fps is too higher, you have an unfair advantage

Or he might not know this and it could have been a typo :p

well i do run on quite low quality and i run on 800-600 but going by this computers specs thats not bad.. i really do think i could get 250 easy enough with that PC i just want general thoughts on the PC for the price its at

That's news to me, although I've never been a serious online gamer.

haha anyway gentlemen what are your opinions on the PC itself.. are there better PC's about for that kinda money, or is it a very good computer for that type of money.. im not the best on computer side of things i just game and pown noobs :D:D

Yeah, it's for people that need silly little advantages to win instead of playing them how they were meant to be played... ;)

To answer your question, it's ok but ideally you would have a 4870 or GTX260. You can do that within your budget if you build your own:

Exactly why you would want higher fps.

250 fps with a 8600 GT  what other settings you run to get near 250?, not saying you don't just like to know

I belive the correct spelling is "n00b" but im not a 1337 online gamer....

Yeah ill go home (btw that is ok, but get a phenom 2 or core2/I7 based system if your serious about "pwning n00bs" as the old amd64 archutecture was new 6 years ago...)

It's probably best to do a google search and check out the benchmarks for the GTS250. But the 4870 1GB will wipe the floor with the gts250 and is only £30 more...

the processor is another matter...I'm not an expert here but it looks like from a bit-tech review that the chip is perfectly fast for what you want, so it won't act as a bottleneck for the graphics card:

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2009/04/28/amd-athlon-x2-7850-black-edition-cpu-review/10

they were quite disparaging about the chip because the intel 5200 is a better overclocker, but I can't see a system on OcUK that has the intel 5200 for the same cheap price )bearing in mind a decent case and PSU). If you won't be overclocking, then stick with the AMD chip.

So it looks like it's pretty ok as long as you get the 4870 1GB. But that's just from me having a quick look around t'interwebz
