this printscreen shows me in a empty server with the right cfg you can get any fps.. and im not even using 800-600 in this one.. so ofc this computer will get me constant 250

Yup... All to do with configs.
In leagues though the cap is 125 fps. I used to play many a match.

Anyway, dude... build your own. Get a 260 or a 4870 instead of the 250.
The 250 is a last gen card that's been rebranded as a mid-range card.

To be perfectly honest, you could probably keep your CPU and overclock the hell out of it anyway (in a new motherboard that is).

You say 250fps doesn't give you any advantages and that 60fps is smooth, so why the hell don't you just cap it at 100fps and have the game look like it was made in the last decade?

Seriously, you may as well be playing the original CoD.

i think im going to buy the 260 m8 along with the titan PC. and then just in the future upgrade off that PC as the case etc etc of my computer atm means i cannot upgrade things =/

I know COD4 is built on the doom or quake engine (cant remember which), but a higher fps means you can jump higher, throw grenades further etc. Think these changes happen at 125, 250 and 333fps but dont quote me on that! Most games will kick you though if your fps is too higher, you have an unfair advantage

Or he might not know this and it could have been a typo :p

It's based off either the Quake 3 or 4 engine, though I think it's been heavily modified. You can't "strafe" jump (very fast bunny hops) in CoD4. On Quake 3/4 and Jedi Knight 2/3 (the only ones I've played where strafing is possible), you can set your max fps to 125 for higher bunny hops, and to 333 for faster bunny hops. I don't believe setting it to 250 does anything.

Setting your max fps to 100 is usually best for normal gameplay.

Also, there's a huge difference between 30 and 60, but no difference between 60 and [insert large, but sane, number here]. I'm pretty sure that, in regards to video games at least, 60fps is as much as the human eye can detect.

I have to laugh, this guy first gets berated for mentioning so called unattainable fps, after stating in his first post that he wanted "performance" specifically for competitive gaming...

Then when he shows it's more than possible, he gets laughed at again with other posts about the quality of the graphics.

Bottom line is it's his choice what he wants his computer for and there are some quite sad replies in this thread that are unhelpful and not needed. There's more to life than benchmarking your computer, playing games on the highest graphics settings possible... and making fun of people who merely want to do something different with their machine.

It's like laughing at a Rally driver because he has a stripped out interior and only 1 or 2 seats... and using that analagy -> Yes a Rally car isn't going to be like driving around in a BMW M6, but it's got it's merits for power / weight ratio & handling. And those with a brain will understand what i'm trying to illustrate.

In my opinion that spec you posted in your first post will be more than adequate for what you want, especially in comparison to your current setup.

Lol some people just done get it at all...
Yeah its all in the config, personnel I have 250fps at 2560x1600 with texture detail on extra which looks good and give me the good fps. (obviously other settings are turned off)

I think everyone here is use to giving out specs in order to get the best graphics and the most aesthetic looking games. Not everyone is looking for that. I understand what azSTRR is trying to do. By acheiving a constant 250 framerate it makes the game play smoother and makes strafe jumps easier to acheive. Reduing the graphic settings makes it easier to see opponents. It is standard practise by all who play CoD4 competitively to do this.

Correct me if I am wrong but isnt the max FPS allowed in Promod 200?
