Computer Problem - Please help.

Hey all......... Thanks in advance.

Here are my pc specs:-

PSU: Cosair HX850w Modular
CPU: Phenom II 1090t
RAM: DDR3 Geil EVO Corsa 1866
GPU: HD 6870Black Edition and XFX 6870 on Crossfire.
Mobo: Sabertooth 990FX
OS: Windows7 Ultimate 64bit
My system is running supremely cool before you ask 17 at idle... When gaming way below standard temps.

All drivers up to date.

Now to my problem... Basically I started off upgrading my pc with just changing my graphics card... then I decided to crossfire, Which then lead me to have to change my Power supply.. And so on and so on.....
My pc still didnt run any games smoothly... bf3... doesnt even run heroes of newerth on constant 125 fps like it should.

So today i bought the only part i didnt upgrade, the mobo, to the sabertooth.. Hoping it would solve the performance problem.. Nothings changed??? Any ideas people???

That sounds like just what I've been through. Started with a i5 760 / 5870 which I decided to upgrade when BF3 came out to a 2500k / 6870CF which turned out to be nothing but trouble. Cue several graphics cards purchases laters and I'm at a 7970. Once the upgrading starts ...

It doesnt hurt to do a full clean install of all the new Drivers for your GPUs, i had problems with my 6870 and i was solved when i deleted all Ati folders and uninstalled CCC then done a fresh driver update from Amd website.

Ive just formatted my computer this morning with the new mobo.. so clean sweep isnt a problem as everything is fresh Its so frustrating because my pc should run most games on high now.

Firstly you won't be playing Battlefield 3 at the highest settings no matter how many 6870s you add.

And secondly Crossfire sucks. So that could be why your other game doesn't run properly. When Crossfire isn't working properly it actually hurts performance.

What driver and CAP did you install?

As Andy said Crossfire can be a royal PITA when it wants to be, its just a case of finding what driver and CAP combination works best for you. Sounds easy but its taken me the best part of 3-4 months of trail and error to get happy with what I'm on now, 12.1a/8.95 with the latest CAP's installed seems to be fine.

I had stages of one game working smooth as you like and the next game I fired up would stutter. The drivers and CAP's are getting better, just at a snails pace.

Make sure you also downloaded the latest CAPs. Also, BF3 uses more than 1gb VRAM, so considering Crossfire only mirrors the data accorss the cards you still effectively only have 1gb. Could be limiting it. You could try overclocking your CPU if it helps... And changing motherboards... very unlikey to boost performance...

Also, 17c at idle is impossible unless you're in a pretty cold room. Also bare in mind the Phenom IIs do not have temp sensors built in, they are usually indirectly measured from the socket. Hence you don't check the core temp but the TPIN temp as that's more accurate.
