This was built and working for over a week now, however, I slammed some books on the desk and the computer suddenly switched itself off. I couldn't turn it back on after that. I have tested the PSU on another computer and that worked fine. All the connections are definetly in place and I have no idea what could be causing the problem or how to fix it. ANy help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like it short circuited if it vibrated when the books hit the table. Take a close look around all the components to see if there is any damage.
