computer restarting instead of shutting down?

When i go to shut PC down, instead of shutting down it restarts, any idea why?

I turned off 'automatic restart' in startup and recovery as google suggested but it's not stopped it.

Have you checked in your bios? Look through the "wake on..." settings to see what could do this.

i've had this too, and for some reason the last two weeks it's stopped.

I used to have to wait to make sure it did actually shut down :eek:

what setup are you using?

I use an Asus P5Q pro with Q6600, psu is a thermaltake TR2 500w. It never did it till i reinstalled vista the other day.

vista will do it when it needs to install updates, even if you tell it to shutdown

I have exactly the same problem - I'm using XP and still not found out what's causing it. i've checked all the settings and it still reboots instead of shutting down.
