Okay, edit. It's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. When I start a new game and its loading the first level it restarts. No idea why, it auto detected my settings and all I did was change the res to 1280x1024. I'll download the patch and see if that helps. Nope keeps restarting.

Reinstall your graphics card drivers?

Most of the blue screens or restarts i've had were through having bad memory. It may be worth testing them.

I also read of someone having problem with GRAW which were sorted out by reinstalling the game itself.

Only happens on that 1 game though, all others work fine. And on GRAW it happens at the same part every time. I'll run memtest and sisoftsandra.

I've just edited my previous post. How about a fresh install of the game?

Got the following off the Ubisoft site:-

This is probably related to the fact that your video card drivers may be out of date. Please install the latest reference drivers for your video card.

1) Go into the DirectX diagnostic tools. (Click Start, then run, then type in "dxdiag" without the quotes).

2) Click on the display tab.

3) In the upper left corner note down the name of the card.

4) In the upper right corner note down the driver version number.

5) Check that name and version and visit the card manufacturers website to download and install the latest drivers for that card. For more help with updating drivers, Click Here

Some other things to try:

- If you have an Nvidia based video card, try turning off your anti-aliasing. Apparently there is a technical issue with some system configurations and Nvidia chips.

1. Right click on your desktop and select properties.
2. Go to settings->advanced->select the name of your card (i.e.. Geforce 2)
3. Click on "additional properties"
4. Click on the "allow applications to control the antialiasing mode" check box.

- Try lowering all of the game's graphics settings, and then work your way back up.

- Set your desktop color to 16 bit high color before running the game.

- Turn off your sound cards EAX settings in the sound cards utility program.

- Try turning down the sound hardware acceleration slider in the DirectX Diagniostic Tool.

Question
Ghost Recon will crash when attempting to launch the game. I am using a Geforce video card and a Via Chipset Motherboard.

Answer
There seems to be an issue with newest Nvidia drivers when used in conjunction with a VIA motherboard chipset and Windows XP. If you are running Windows XP on a system with a VIA Chipset and an Nvidia based video card, you may need to install an older version of the drivers for your video card to prevent problems. Please visit http://205.158.109.140/Windows/21.83/WinXP_21.83.exe to download and install this older driver version for your Nvidia based card.

Please note that this workaround is for Windows XP users only!

Hope it helps. :)

Yeah thanks for that, but won't overwriting the new drivers with old ones cause problems in other games? not saying it will but you know what I mean?

Just uninstall your current ones and go back to some older (not old) ones. At least, if the game then works, you'll know what the problem is. It's all about eliminating all the possibilities. :)

Alright cheers, I'll try all of the above as well tomorow.
