Hi all,

My computer is failing to boot and restarts every 5 seconds, initially it got to the BIOS splash screen then restarted but now it doesn't even get that far.
I have removed individual sticks of RAM and the problem still persists, I swapped over my GPU's from my SLI config and still no luck, my PSU fan works and doesn't seem to be causing an issue.

Is this CPU or Motherboard problems? :( I've removed the motherboard battery, I'm not sure what else I can do to diagnose this!

Many thanks in advance

Can you please post your full specs? Does your CPU include an onboard GPU? You should strip everything non essential and trying again to see if it occurs again.

Does this started happening after installing a particular program or windows update? CPU heatsink seated properly?

Specs are:

SLI 980ti
Soc-champion Motherboard
Corsair 1000i 1000w PSU
Intel i7 3550k

I reset the cmos using the online switch and it's now booting up but is requesting the windows repair to run, it's currently running but I'm not too hopeful!

It's still recieving power though, surely it would not turn on at all if it was the PSU?

This all started after restarting my computer as well, this happened the other day and I reinstalled windows, seemed to fix it.

This time it's not even getting to the bios splash screen.

remove all unnecessary plugs and devices out of the PC
Front USB header included
Find a working power supply and test with
If still not working throw money at the problem
Get a new motherboard 99% positive broken

I managed to get it turned on lastnight for about 30 minutes, then it just switched off whilst loading Reddit.

It would only get past the windows logo screen is I reset the cmos and bios again.

Unfortunately I don't have a spare PSU at my disposal but I'm going to strip it down and try finding the issue.

Full computer specs:

GPU - 2x MSI NVIDIA GTX 980ti's
CPU - Intel i7-5820k @ 3.6GHz
Motherboard - Gigabyte SOC-Champion
RAM - Corsair Dominator 32GB
Cooling - Corsair H100i CPU Water Cooling
PSU - Corsair RM1000i

Thank you for all the help so far!

It's loading fully now but will restart itself after a few hours of being idle and then the POST code on my motherboard is blank and my PSU fan was spinning at 100% (it should only spin under heavy load).

I'm going to try replace one of them, which one do you think is the best bet?

Thank you :)

Check that the heatsink is correctly mounted on the CPU and that the TIM hasn't dried out. You should also check the amount of fluid left in the H100i.

Everything was fine with heat sink applied fresh compound anyway, the code D0 is consistently showing up, I understand this is the code for CPU Initialization Error, is this on behalf of the CPU itself or the motherboard? :(
