Computer running slow...

My computer is running really slow the past few weeks and I have no idea why. I scanned for viruses/trojans and such and nothing was found. What can be the problem?

My specs are:

i7 860
Ati 2900XT
4GB Geil Ram

Running on Windows 7.

Any ideas guys?

you done disk clean up and defrag? and does you antivirus have a bootscanner?

I've done disk cleanup and it's running abit quicker. I'm defragging right now.

Is my GFX slowing my computer down?

Graphics card won't make you computer graduatly run slower over time,are you now running more background processes, or it may well be malware.

msconfig>startup. and then deselect some programs that start up when pc turned on that are not need. And clean the pc all up disk clean it up. Or if you want to reinstall fresh install of windows.

+1 for msconfig. itunes and steam are serious culprits for slowing a pc down-especially steam with its constant updates

What kind of slowdown are we talking? Freezes or just slowness to boot up programs?

on a WD Caviar Black 640GB. I only have 1 hard drive.
