Computer screwed.... =[

I just got a motherboard replacement from evga after thinking that the motherboard in my pc had gone before. I installed it and set it up correctly yet it comes up with an error of CR12J1 or something near that. Any body got any ideas what is wrong :/

Might be a POST error? Or have you gotten the replacement board then plugged in all your old hardware straight away?

it is a replacement board that i put the hardware in. There is no windows install on the hard drive, and as far as i know the other components are ok, but not having anything to test them in i wouldnt know :/

You still didn't clarify if it was a POST error or not

Where does it occur? Is the system unresponsive when it happens? ie you can't press numlock etc...

i havent checked to see if i could press any keys like num lock and would i have to reset the bios if it is exactly the same make and model of motherboard just a new one? And it occurs as soon as i press the power button.

Well...it's a new board....So the bios settings might be different than your old board...Thus possibly giving you some errors.

Take out the CMOS batteryu for a few minutes, and move a jumper across if the board has one. Then replace the battery and jumper, fire her up. See if anything happens.

You say it happens as soon as the pc turns on...? Is that the ONLY thing on the screen? Or is there a bios splash screen or something?

There is nothing on the screen. The monitor stays in stand by, i will try taking the battery out later and stuff though might be that.

If it's turning on but the system isn't posting, try re-seating all the components, and then try the ram individually etc.

Do you have a speaker on the motherboard...or attached to the chassis?

If you do, remove the ram, and power the system on, you should get POST error beeps indicating there is no RAM installed...If you don't, then the problem lies elsewhere sadly.

Unfortunately it doesnt have a speaker. however i was thinking of ordering another 2gb of ram to boost it up so if those work then i know my problem, if not it is the cpu

they all got one year warranty anyways
