I have a
Medion Akoya P36888
-Intel Core 2
-Quad Processor Q6600
-3 GB DDR2-SDRAM
-NVIDIA GeForce 9300GS Graphics
-Running on Windows 7

I have been asked too take a look at it for a friend. He was on youtube watching a video and the screen froze. He left if thinking that it was just buffering but then realized that it had froze. He tried switching the computer off at the front using the power off switch but this didn't work so had too be switched off by the mains. Once switched on again the computer does respond with the fans and HDD running and the disk drive and so on also responds but there is nothing at all coming up on the monitor and the small LED behind the Power Button wont light up either if this helps?
Any help would be much appreciated Thanks .

try removing/reseating the ram (try 1 stick at a time if possible).
also disconnect everything not needed (or do a skeleton build) and see if that helps.
reset bios (either with jumper or removal of battery)
if machine has a speaker, then I normally remove all ram and see if it beeps, if it doesn't then looks like a psu or mobo issue normally.

ok... well i have already done the ram part and no response still and i reset the bios by taking the battery out overnight. I can only really try the skeleton build then it would seem .

unfortunately its a process of elimination. if you have ram/cpu/psu etc to swap out it helps. or a known working mobo you can test their components on.

if it shut down for no reason it would indicate either it overheated and died, which could be cpu/psu most likely, or the motherboard gave up.

Reset CMOS and see if you can get it to boot mate.

Process of elimination. If the motherboard has on board graphics you may want to try running your monitor off that.
