Hi guys, my pc has developed a weird problem:eek:. Sometimes everything powers up, but the screen is blank with no signal, even tho the monitor is turned on. At the same time the fan on my 8800 GTS goes crazy and starts spinning at full speed. Other times my pc will stop at the bios screen or the windows loading bar. Sometimes giving the graphics card a nudge will make it work, otertimes not.
I really have no idea *** is going on, can anyone help?
thanks in advance

Take everything out and reseat it. Give the graphics card port a blow, might have dust in it.

If it still plays up run a memory test.

Does your mobo have any onboard graphics? You could always try them to distinguish if it's the card causing the problem.

Sounds like the graphics card is either dodgy or badly seated. As J.B said, clean up the graphics card slot and reseat it carefully.

ok things jus got worse. I took the card out, cleaned up the slot, then put it back in, but because im an idiot i turned it on with out plugging the extra 6 pin power connector back in. This caused it to make a high pitched noise until i turned it off. Now when i turn it on it turns off after about 5 seconds, or when the cpu fan starts to spin. Anyone know whether i jus wrecked my graphics card? or maybe another component?
