Computer STILL switching off randomly

Did you TRY my suggestion? Tried the OLD card instead of the new one?

I threw it away :(

Well.. i think thats it guys, my HD4670 is causing the problems, not enough cooling or something? i Put my Geforce 120 back in and it isn't switching off... Hmm, not yet anyway.

What now?

EDIT: Forget that, its still switching off even with my old graphics card...

Well that's me confused, I thought you threw the old card away?

Do you know anyone who know's anything about building PC's? If you don't, just take it to a local store and ask them to check it over. It shouldn't cost that much and will at least mean you don't have to take anything apart in your system.

I thought i did but i put it into my HD4670 packaging ^^

Hmm.. having to spend more money on this piece of crap.. :( i dont want to ask my dad to take me to a store with it.. too much hassel.

Guys... Hahaha, i think i possibly know what was wrong with it (although its only been on for a few minutes)

There was huge amounts of dust in the main fan (that cools the motherboard, i think?) I cleaned it all out with a wooden toothpick, lets hope this solves it and it doesn't switch off..

I only read through the thread today. I was thinking at the end of the second page 'His graphics card or north-bridge is overheating, because his case airflow is rubbish'.

I was feeling fairly smug at having discovered your problem when I turn the page to discover that you'd already fixed it :p

Anyway - I'm glad it's worked out.

i'm not, I'm saying that if we would have been able to see the system, it would have been easier to diagnose. On here we can only offer advise from previous experiences.

If he would have taken it to a PC repair shop it would have been spotted straight away.

I know really, hah. How come you guys didn't think of this? Mmmm, i guess because its prebuilt it wasn't that obvious, i just noticed lots of dust in it when i was examining the inside.

Not meaning to be rude but you've had your case open a fair few times now, how did you not notice this before now? Was the dust quite compact and just around the cpu heat-sink?

I had this at work - spent ages trying to figure it out because the RAM seemed to make a difference - in the end it was a faulty motherboard... so I would suggest change the mobo if you have a spare?

He's fixed it. It was a dusty heat-sink.
