My computer has recently (the last day) started switching itself off randomly, i bought a HD4670 graphics card and installed it a while ago, and my PSU also isnt that good. Do you think ill have to replace it? Can't think what might be wrong.

yup that's the PSU....mine did it continually for a year until i replaced it with a OCZ 600......a graphics card that's screwed up behaves differently.... if it's just switching off as if it's a power cut at home, then it's the PSU

Hmm dammit, if i get a new PSU it'll be ok then right?

Any suggestions for which one to buy? And sorry i put this in the wrong section :D Misread it.

well i carried on using my pc for a year, but it got much worst in the last few months, it's started making a high pitched noise/ crackling sound

dont buy a PSU for less than about 45 quid... it'll be cheap junk, i spent about 48 quid on the OCZ 600W Stealth X Stream ..... (after about 3 weeks research)

this PSU is excellent, i brought it from here and it arrived the next day..

no, it'll turn off randomly when least expected... but it wont crash in idle mode, only whilst gaming.

it can destroy your MOBO/ Graphics card if it goes ``bang``...so i've read ..dont use it again, till you replace it

Don't use my COMPUTER again until i get a new one?! :S

Edit: Lol... that PSU is out of stock.

Its switching off even when im not doing anything :S Is there any to stop it from switching off like ajusting anything temporally?

NO.....if it's switching off under idol then it's even worst.......when it starts up again what error messages do you see if any?

Uhh well first time it said something about a program not compatible, like some thing to with 32bit and 64bit vista i think, a power... something that isnt compatible lol.l

i'm thinking of getting the OCZ 800w for my next pc build.... instead of the Corsair....ok the Corsair is better, but the OCZ seems perfectly alright... it gets a great review, every time!

Drop the voltage if you are overvolting, drop the clocks if you are overclocking to see if it helps. But from what you say I think your PSU is preparing to die regardless of what you do:(

When it shuts off, does it just go blank? No BSOD? What are your temps like? Perhaps you may have knocked the processor cooling when installing the GPU? Make sure the HSF is seated correctly. Just a thought.....

temps for the graphics card? around 30-50 idle. whats BSOD?

it switches the computer off, i had a similar problem with my old pc but it only turned the screen off, but thats different.

oh ...it could be something else, i use XP ...........I had similar with XP, but if it's something you've downloaded that is 64bit and it should be 32bit, (like with my old rig) then it'll tell you this all the time.....e.g i downloaded an XP file to adjust the gaming performance of my FX 64, but it was 64bit...and it didn't work, the pc kept telling me.... but not just once like with yours....also it didn't crash either

now.... do you get any other error messages ?

No, the CPU temps. Get some monitoring software like speedfan if you don't already.

BSOD Blue Screen Of Death.
