Computer switching itself off randomly

it switches the computer off, i had a similar problem with my old pc but it only turned the screen off, but thats different.

card temp is ok...... but 50 idol is a wee bit high.....but this is not the problem, a too hot card will slow down your frame rates, start blocking/pixillating like a Chess board and then freeze.... i.e my efforts to overclock for Crysis:D:D

if it's starting up with no warning messages and running fine..until it crashes again, this is the PSU..... a fault in the mobo/cpu and you'll see some kind of warning messages/ safe mode etc...... i think!

Erm, no. But you are right, it could easily be the PSU. As it could also be an overheating cpu due to poor cooling. I was simply looking for an alternative which would be cost free (hopefully) to the OP.

yes, it's your PSU.....exactly the same as me 2 weeks ago..... no warning messages at start up, it was fine every time............. until the very last time it happened...

i got one long bleep and a number of other quick bleeps at start up, pc was dead after this ( cant remember the exact number) but this error code means .... ``your graphics card is broken`` :eek:... i panicked big time, because i was told that eventually this would happen and i'd loose the mobo too, the pc shop told me.:eek:

fitted new PSU, it still happened, i was now very scared.... turned off pc removed card..turned pc back on.....``no card detected``.... turned off pc, replaced card, turned back on....it worked fine.......pheeeeeeewww.

i came that close to loosing my Graphics card... do not use your PC till you replace your PSU.

well if you haven't Overclocked anything then the CPU should be fine..if you have, then remove the overclocking... try removing the cooler... clean it and replace it... cleaning a cooler/ dusting it out etc will drop temps quite a bit anyway.... but this is almost definitely a faulty PSU.....check your PSU connections, make sure none are loose.
